The Digital Copy Writer will develop, write, and edit original copy for dynamic, e-commerce websites, marketing-focused websites, as well as digital campaigns. The Digital Copy Writer will work closely with the marketing division to develop a content strategy for the organisation.  This person works in a multi-disciplinary team with the goal of designing world-class experiences, delighting users and transforming businesses.

About the Company

We develop and support end-to-end e-commerce products for international customers, offering over 13 languages. We develop business-to-business systems and back-end systems for customer support, finance, payment process management, risk and fraud management, and content management systems. As a team, we continuously look for ways to improve our products and processes.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Content planning and strategy
    • Planning content for websites, marketing (online, offline and above the line) as well as social media accounts, managing the editorial calendar.
    • Set up a simple language policy and content strategy.
    • Create and maintain digital content styleguide.
    • Working closely with the Marketing team to plan for marketing related content for the websites.
  • Creating and maintaining content
    • Researching and writing content:
      • Simple language, writing for humans, writing for the Web.
      • Write content with SEO in mind.
      • Write engaging content.
    • Maintaining and update content.
      • Set up a content maintenance calendar.
    • Working closely with translators in over 13 international languages.
    • The content specialist will write documentation related to product launches – with the support of the specific business unit responsible for such documentation.
    • The content specialist will write for websites, marketing (online, offline and above the line), PR as well as social media
    • Working closely with Designers to produce infographics and video content.
    • Working closely with the marketing team, in order to shape overall marketing messages into compelling content.
  • Content editing
    • The Digital Copywriter will be available for language editing for any English marketing related content from the Marketing team.
    • The copywriter will do language editing for websites, business documentation.
  • Research
    • Researching best practice and digital content trends
  • Project discovery
    • Workshops, requirements gathering and analysis

Requirements & Skills

Qualification and Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have an excellent command of the English language and experience writing digital content. Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Highly organised and able to multi-task; can correctly prioritise multiple issues, can process large amounts of information from disparate sources and can use good critical judgement to decipher what is important and meaningful to diverse audiences.
  • A related degree/diploma/certifications. In the absence of a degree/diploma, exceptional work experience will also be considered. The years of experience and education would relate to the level of the role.
  • Good understanding of the digital content landscape – from strategy and development through to distribution.
  • Experience in leading the content strategy for an organisation.
  • Have worked with content of multiple formats – from web pages and emails to videos.
  • Experience working with translators.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines. Experience in agile environments, working with multi-disciplinary teams is a plus.
