My client is a fully integrated marketing agency with a track record that spans over 10 years. This youth-led agency puts agility and excellence at the center of its operations and uses passion to drive creativity and everything they do. Some of their clients include SAB, Standard Bank, BMW and DSTV.

They are a solutions orientated integrated marketing agency invested in building African brands that ensure they derive sustainable and operational excellence across the continent.

They are looking for a Group Account Director capable to lead the account management team and be the primary manager of all the accounts. You will also need strong and hands on expertise with motivating staff, managing budgets, ensuring strict time frames are adhered to etc. You will be required to recognise prime responsibility for ensuring the quality of the agency’s product, particularly the strategic and creative product, and for inspiring the highest standards in other team members.

You must possess the capability to build excellent relationships with clients, extending into social situations, and with all members of the agency team for whom you are responsible.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree or National Diploma, majoring in communication, marketing, advertising or other related business sciences.
  • 5 years account management experience within an ad agency environment.
  • Proficient MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong account and project management experience.
  • Able to handle all aspects of the account and the successful management thereof.
  • Strong client interaction and stakeholder management.
  • Able to write briefs, interpret them successfully and deliver upon the client’s request.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and inspire the team that reports into you.
  • Marketing knowledge and experience.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) & Responsibilities will be focused on:

  • Clients (dealing with and managing them as well as building relationships).
  • Creative (managing the team as well as be able to set the creative context of the business: knowing what type of advertising the brand needs).
  • Finance ( is responsible for maximising the account’s billings and/or income and for seeking out additional income opportunities).
  • Traffic/Production ( you will be responsible for ensuring that the client understands the importance of having enough time for creative development).
  • Planning ( in tandem with the planner, develop the most insightful advertising strategies and sharpest creative briefs possible).
  • Media ( keep the media director apprised of relevant client/account issues).
  • Management ( ultimately responsible for the smooth running of the account – operationally, creatively and financially – and is answerable on these points to the client and to the business director).
